Insurance

All delegates attending IIFA 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia are strongly advised to obtain comprehensive travel insurance before travelling. Delegates are also encouraged to verify that their insurance policies are valid for travel to Malaysia and provide adequate protection.

This should include coverage for personal health, travel disruptions, accidents, and loss or damage to personal property during their stay.

Please note that the organisers, including the Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia (FIMM), accept no responsibility or liability for any personal injury, illness, accident, or loss of property incurred during the conference or related activities.

The organisers also reserve the right to modify the conference programme, schedule, or related events without prior notice, and will not be held liable for any consequences from such changes.

Banks & Currency

The Malaysian Ringgit (RM) is the currency in use in Malaysia.

Visa and Master Card are all widely accepted in pubs, shops and restaurants throughout the country. Most places are now operating on a cashless system in Kuala Lumpur, however possession of loose cash is still encouraged.

Bank Opening Hours – Monday to Friday 9:00AM – 4:30PM. Closes on Weekends (Saturday & Sunday) and Public Holidays.

Automated Teller Machines (ATM) in Kuala Lumpur are mostly accessible 24/7 in bank branches, shopping malls and even in 24-hour convenience stores.

Climate

September in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is typically hot and humid, with average daytime temperatures ranging between 24°C (75°F) and 32°C (90°F). While the city experiences abundant sunshine, brief but intense rain showers and occasional thunderstorms are fairly common, especially in the late afternoons. This is part of Malaysia’s tropical climate, which remains consistent throughout the year.

Malaysia has a tropical climate, and the humidity level is consistently high throughout the year, typically ranging between 70% to 90% relative humidity.

Delegates are advised to wear light, breathable clothing and stay well-hydrated. It's also recommended to carry an umbrella or light rain jacket when exploring the city or commuting between venues.

Shopping

General opening hours of malls and retail stores operate daily (including weekends and public holidays), from 10:00AM – 10:00PM. Convenient stores like KK Mart are open 24/7 every day.

Smoking

Malaysia enforces strict regulations on smoking in public areas. Smoking is prohibited in all enclosed public spaces, including restaurants, hotels, air-conditioned shopping complexes, public transport terminals, and government buildings. Many open-air eateries and pedestrian areas may also be designated as non-smoking zones.

Delegates should ensure they are in designated smoking areas, which are typically marked with clear signage outside venues.

If you require a smoking room, please check with your accommodation in advance. All hotel rooms are assumed non-smoking unless otherwise specified.

Tipping

Tipping is generally accepted practice in restaurants, bars, taxis and hotel services. A service charge is included in some restaurants and should be stated on the menu, but otherwise this is at your discretionary.

Telecommunications / Mobile Phones

For international delegates, by securing or purchasing roaming agreements with Malaysian Networks you will be able to connect to a compatible local network once you arrive in Malaysia. Do kindly activate the roaming service before travelling.

Networks widely available are CelcomDigi, Maxis and U Mobile.
